Role: Drafter / Estimator

Position: Full Time

We are a growing mixed fabrication business specialising in a range of custom metal fabrication and engineering projects. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Drafter / Estimator to join our team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands fabrication, can read and interpret technical drawings, and has the ability to take a project from initial enquiry through to accurate estimating and detailed workshop drawings. Our market is high-end construction covering all things structural steel and architectural alluminium. We have a friendly and supportive team, cultural fit is important.

The Role:

- Reviewing customer enquiries, plans and specifications

- Preparing accurate quotations and estimates for fabrication projects

- Producing detailed workshop and fabrication drawings

- Preparing material take-offs and estimating labour, materials and subcontractor costs

- Liaising with clients, suppliers, engineers and the workshop

- Reviewing designs for fabrication practicality and cost efficiency

- Preparing cutting lists, job sheets and fabrication documentation

- Assisting with project planning and production scheduling





- Following projects through from estimating to manufacture

- Ensuring drawings and estimates are accurate, practical and commercially viable

About you:

- Punctual and Reliable

- Previous experience in fabrication drafting and/or estimating

- Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes

- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural and engineering drawings

- Experience with CAD software

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

- Good understanding of materials, hardware and fabrication methods

- Strong estimating and problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs

- Positive communication skills and the ability to work closely with a workshop team

- A practical attitude
