City of Port Lincoln is seeking a practical, hands-on individual who can scope, plan and coordinate small to medium scale projects! The ideal candidate would have an interest in maintaining Council buildings, assessing playgrounds, and constructing facilities, alongside experience or qualifications in project management, a trade, or a building licence.

- Full-time, Permanent Position

- Estimated start November 2026
- Relocation support available
- $87,215.11 - $97,955.24 per annum (dependant on qualifications and experience)
- Rotational on call roster. Availability allowance:
- $41 per weekday
- $76 per day of a weekend or public holiday
- Call out attendance to be paid at 2 hours minimum at prescribed ordinary rates, with applicable penalties when outside normal span of hours, weekends and public holidays

What does this Position do?

The Supervisor, Buildings and Facilities leads a small operational team responsible for the maintenance, renewal and improvement of Council’s buildings and facilities ensuring these assets are safe, functional and compliant with relevant regulatory and safety standards. The Supervisor oversees the delivery of maintenance programs and capital renewal and upgrade projects across a range of community assets, including community centres, libraries, administrative buildings, playground infrastructure and public amenities. The position also supports the implementation of Council’s asset management plans, coordinates contractors and internal resources, and ensures works are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

The Supervisor, Buildings and Facilities plays a crucial role in supporting the local community by ensuring the safety, functionality and reliability of Council’s buildings and community infrastructure. Through the effective maintenance,



renewal and improvement of community-facing facilities, the role directly contributes to creating safe, accessible and welcoming spaces for residents and visitors. Key Objectives

- Provide leadership to direct reports by setting clear expectations, offering guidance and support, and promoting high standards of workmanship, safety and productivity.
- Supervise and coordinate maintenance technicians, tradespeople and contractors, including management of relevant service contracts.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair and presentation of Council buildings and facilities, including community buildings, civic assets, playgrounds, public amenities and cemeteries.,
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards and compliance requirements, including playground inspections.
- Coordinate and prioritise maintenance works, repairs, upgrades and capital projects in collaboration with internal teams and external contractors.
- Support asset management planning and preventative maintenance programs to optimise the lifecycle and performance of Council assets.
- Ensure Council buildings and facilities comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations and accessibility standards, including coordinating inspections, permits and required certifications.
- Plan and allocate resources, develop work schedules, and oversee daily operations to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, reporting, and asset record management for the Buildings and Facilities function.
- Prepare reports and correspondence and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal departments, elected members and community stakeholders to identify facility needs and service priorities.
- Respond to service requests, enquiries and community enquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in Council’s after-hours on-call roster to respond to urgent building, facility and infrastructure matters as required.
- Ensure workplace incidents, hazards, near misses and property damage are reported in accordance with Council’s work health and safety procedures.
- Maintain awareness of industry best practice including sustainability, inclusivity and community wellbeing and promote Council Values.
- Undertake other duties consistent with the position as directed by the Manager, Places and Presentation.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

- Demonstrated experience in building or facilities maintenance, construction project management, or a related field, including experience supervising staff and/or contractors.




- Trade qualification in relevant field, such as building, carpentry etc.
- Experience or willingness to obtain certification as a Level 3 Playground inspector in line with Play Australia Guidelines and AS 4685.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, building codes and standards for public buildings and facilities.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and deliver maintenance activities, renewal works and small capital projects.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, elected members and the community.
- Proven ability to exercise sound judgement, initiative and discretion within established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence and documentation relevant to the role.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and experience using asset, project or facilities management systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, and to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- Willingness and ability to undertake site inspections and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Highly regarded but not essential
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in building maintenance, facilities or construction project management, or a similar role, including supervision of multiple subcontractors to deliver works.
- Diploma or degree in civil engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Skytrust - integrated management system.
- Experience in Local Government and knowledge of the Local Government Act and relevant local government legislation.
- Demonstrated Experience in Records Management.

Key performance indicators

- Deliver scheduled maintenance programs to ensure Council buildings and facilities remain safe, functional and well-presented
- Ensure facilities comply with relevant building codes, safety regulations, accessibility standards and other applicable requirements through regular inspections and timely issue resolution.
- Deliver capital works, renewal and upgrade projects within approved scope, budget and timeframes
- Provide responsive and professional service by addressing maintenance programs and regular inspections to reduce risk and maintain asset condition.
- Carry out all work in line with Work Health and Safety policies and procedures, including reporting hazards, incidents and risks.
