Davidson is partnering with an established Queensland multi-trades business to appoint a Head of Operations during an exciting period of growth and transformation.

With more than 70 years of history, the organisation has developed a strong reputation across plumbing, electrical, roofing, building and general trade services. Building upon an established maintenance business, it is now expanding its construction and fit-out capability and investing in the leadership, systems and operational structure required to scale successfully.

Reporting to the executive leadership team, the Head of Operations will lead operational delivery across all trade divisions. This is a broad leadership position combining people management, project and service delivery, commercial performance, client relationships and continuous improvement.

The opportunity

You will:

- Lead operations across maintenance, construction and fit-out activities.
- Provide leadership to Heads of Department, Account Managers, operational teams and site-based employees.
- Build the operational capability required to support significant business growth.
- Improve workforce planning, scheduling, productivity and utilisation across multiple trades and projects.
- Monitor labour, materials, costs and job margins to improve commercial performance.
- Introduce meaningful KPIs and establish clear accountability across the operation.
- Improve systems, processes, policies and reporting, including the effective use of Simpro.
- Oversee a blended workforce of permanent employees, subcontractors and outsourced personnel.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while supporting new business and service opportunities.




- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and company procedures.
- Develop leaders, mentor employees and create an environment where people are empowered to perform at their best.

About you

You are an accomplished operational leader with experience in a multi-trade services, building services, facilities maintenance or commercial construction environment.

You will ideally bring:

- Senior operational leadership experience within a complex, labour-intensive business.
- An understanding of both recurring maintenance services and construction or fit-out projects.
- Experience leading trade-based workforces, subcontractors and multiple operational teams.
- Strong commercial acumen, including job costing, margin management and resource utilisation.
- The ability to introduce structure and accountability within a growing, entrepreneurial organisation.
- Experience improving operational systems, workflows and management reporting.
- Strong knowledge of safety, quality and compliance requirements.
- A practical, visible and approachable leadership style.
- The confidence to challenge constructively, make decisions and follow through.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management capabilities.

A trade, construction or relevant technical background would be valuable, although your leadership capability, commercial judgement and experience scaling operations will be most important.
