Bibra Lake

Our client, a Global Mining OEM & Technology Provider, is seeking two experienced Project Managers to join a major global technology product development program.

The organisation develops sophisticated mining operational technology (OT) used to improve the safety, productivity and efficiency of large-scale mining operations. Its technology connects people, mobile mining equipment and operational systems and incorporates capabilities including fleet management, real-time task management, high-precision positioning, equipment tracking and operational data collection.

There are two Project Manager opportunities, with each having a different project focus:

- New Product Introduction (NPI) Project Manager – managing projects associated with the development, introduction and delivery of new products and capabilities.
- New Technology Introduction (NTI) Project Manager – managing projects focused on the development and introduction of new and emerging technologies.

Both positions involve the delivery of complex software and technology initiatives within a large, globally distributed R&D; and product development workplace.

We are particularly interested in experienced Project Managers who have worked within software product development, technology R&D; or the development of complex technology solutions and understand the challenges associated with coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams.

The Opportunity

Depending on the position, you will manage either NPI or NTI projects involving multiple engineering and technology disciplines.

Working closely with Program Managers, Product Managers, engineering teams and other stakeholders, you will establish project plans, manage schedules, coordinate dependencies and ensure projects are delivered against agreed scope, cost, quality and timing objectives.

The roles require seasoned Project Managers who can operate with limited supervision and provide structure and leadership across complex development initiatives.

- Managing complex NPI or NTI software and technology projects from planning through delivery.
- Developing and maintaining detailed integrated project schedules, milestones and dependencies.

- Working with technical and functional teams to develop detailed activities, estimates and delivery plans.
- Leading project planning, chartering, integration, scheduling and project control sessions.
- Coordinating project activities across multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
- Working with Program Managers to support broader program planning and delivery.
- Managing project risks, issues, dependencies, actions and scope changes.
- Maintaining project work plans, cost tracking, risk registers and project governance information.
- Leading regular project status, planning and update meetings.
- Analysing schedule performance and identifying potential delivery problems, constraints and critical dependencies.
- Working with project teams to resolve scheduling and planning issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Developing and maintaining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and translating these into project management and scheduling tools.
- Preparing project status reports and information for senior stakeholders, steering committees and governance reviews.
- Supporting program-level planning workshops, governance meetings and project reviews.
- Driving adherence to established program and project management processes.
- Coaching and mentoring project team members in effective project management practices where required.
- Ensuring projects remain focused on delivery against agreed time, cost, scope and quality objectives.

About You

We are looking for experienced Project Managers with a strong background delivering complex software, technology or R&D; product development projects.

- Significant Project Management experience within software, technology, engineering or product development environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex software or technology product development projects.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI),

R&D; or similar product/technology development programs would be highly regarded.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams.
- Strong project planning, scheduling and project control capabilities.
- Experience developing and managing detailed project schedules and Work Breakdown Structures.
- Robust understanding of project dependencies, critical paths, risks and schedule management.
- Experience managing project scope, risks, issues, actions, costs and governance.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to facilitate planning workshops and lead project meetings involving senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Experience working within structured program and project management frameworks.
- The ability to operate effectively within a large, geographically distributed organisation.
- Exposure to mining technology, operational technology, industrial technology, automation, robotics or other complex technology environments would be highly regarded.

Experience working in a software product development organisation, rather than solely on business transformation or implementation projects, will be particularly valuable.

Location & Working Arrangements

The positions can be based in Burnie, Tasmania; Brisbane, Queensland; or Perth, Western Australia.

These are office-based roles requiring attendance five days per week, with flexibility around daily start and finish times.

Contract

Both positions are initial 12-month contracts.

There is a significant product development backlog, providing strong potential for multiple contract extensions for high-performing contractors.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major global technology development program and manage NPI or NTI projects at the forefront of sophisticated mining operational technology.
