About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Financial Services, the Financial Accounting Coordinator is responsible for:

- Leading Council’s financial accounting function

- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, legislative requirements and internal financial controls

- Coordinating the preparation of the statutory financial reports, grants commission and other financial acquittals

- Ensuring the integrity of the financial systems remain pertinent

- Leading a small team of people responsible for timely, accurate, complete and efficient administration of Council’s general ledger, payroll, debtors, rates and costing functions including relevant month end and financial year end processes

- Championing a culture of continuous improvement within the Finance section

- Regularly initiating improvements and leading planned process improvement

- Providing work-allocation planning within the Finance team.

About You





You will be a collaborative and capable finance professional who enjoys both technical work and people leadership.

You will bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance or a related field.

- Ideally CPA, CA or CIMA membership (or working towards).

- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

- Experience supporting or leading teams (or readiness to step into leadership)

- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset

- Alignment to a value-based work environment.
