About the role

We are seeking experienced, dedicated, and compassionate Disability Support Workers to provide individualised one-to-one support for a child under 18 years of age in the Dubbo region. This role involves supporting the participant to safely access and attend school while promoting independence, confidence, community participation, and positive outcomes. You will collaborate closely with the participant, their family, school personnel, and allied health professionals to ensure support is delivered consistently and in accordance with the participant's goals, support plans, and safeguarding requirements.

Key responsibilities

- Providing high-quality, individualised 1:1 support to an 8-year-old participant

- Assisting with safe and reliable transportation to and from school

- Supporting educational participation and social inclusion

- Encouraging skill development, confidence, and independence

- Implementing support strategies identified within care plans and behaviour support plans where applicable

- Monitoring the participant's wellbeing and responding appropriately to changing support needs

- Maintaining professional and respectful communication with families, schools, coordinators, therapists, and other stakeholders

- Recording detailed progress notes, incidents, observations, and other required documentation

- Identifying and reporting risks, incidents, and safeguarding concerns in accordance with organisational policies





- Promoting a safe, supportive, and child-focused environment at all times

About you

- Demonstrated experience supporting children and young people with disability

- Previous experience working within the NDIS, disability, community services, education, youth, or health sectors

- Experience supporting participants with complex support needs is highly regarded

- Demonstrated understanding of Child Secure Standards, Child Protection legislation and obligations, and Mandatory Reporting requirements

- Demonstrated understanding of Duty of Care and Dignity of Risk principles

- Demonstrated understanding of Positive Behaviour Support approaches, NDIS Practice Standards, and NDIS Code of Conduct

- Demonstrated understanding of professional boundaries and ethical practice

- Demonstrated understanding of rights-based and person-centred support delivery

- Current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC)

- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Current National Criminal History Check, Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent), Current CPR Certificate, Unrestricted Australian Driver Licence, Reliable motor vehicle, and Comprehensive vehicle insurance

- One or more of the following qualifications: Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Disability Support, Certificate IV in Community Services, Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Youth Work, Certificate IV in Education Support, Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Nursing, Teaching or Education qualifications, or other relevant human services qualifications
