Watco Australia operates rail services on the West and East coasts of Australia, providing container and bulk transportation solutions for customers in the grain, agriculture, livestock, rail infrastructure, minerals and steel manufacturing industries.

Watco Australia is a dynamic and growth focused organisation that is currently growing nationally. We have operations in Queensland, Western Australia and Current South Wales. We have openings for experienced Locomotive Drivers to join our team with positions available in our Gladstone Depot.

About the role

Watco is seeking qualified full-time Locomotive Drivers in Gladstone. This is a permanent full-time role working rostered hours in accordance with the Watco Queensland Rail Supply Chain Enterprise Agreement 2023.

You will need the ability to

- Undertake Watco train services with a customer focused mindset

- Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures

- Maintain excellent relationships with all applicable customers and team members

- Undertake travel, shift work and work away from home temporarily and as when required

- Ability to work 24/7 shift work including weekends

What you will bring

- Current Locomotive Driver Qualification (Certificate IV – Transport and Logistics – Rail Operations or equivalent).

- Recent locomotive driving experience.

- Current manual Class C driver’s licence.





- Customer‑focused approach.

- Ability to pass a Category 1 Rail Medical and Drug and Alcohol Screen.

- Experience with shunting and yard operations

- A current SARC and Safework Rules and Regulations competencies

- A current RCS and DTC knowledge/competencies

- A safety always mindset

- Fatigue management skills

- Route knowledge of regional Southwest, Central, Northern Queensland and Western Queensland regions will be highly regarded

- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
