Salary/Level: Level 6, $124,673 - $137,399 p.a. plus Superannuation

Tenure: Permanent, Full-time

Location: Manjimup or Pemberton, Western Australia

The Warren Region is home to the well-known D’Entrecasteaux and Walpole Nornalup national parks as well as the recently created Walpole Wilderness area and Walpole Nornalup Inlets Marine Park. Many other parks and reserves as well as significant areas of State forest make up the majority of the land that we manage. The landscape of the region include a diversity of coastal heath, tall karri forests to open jarrah and wandoo woodlands to the remnant Tingle forest. The region has wetlands of international and national significance, pristine estuaries and wild rivers.

Our key service deliverables are nature conservation, parks and visitor services, sustainable forest management, and fire management.

We currently have an chance for an Operations Manager to join our team.

With the minimal direction from the District Manager, this position is responsible for:

- Managing the district Conservation Employee workforce and implementing the works program within the Donnelly District.
- Overall coordination of the sustainable forest management programs in the context of the district’s annual schedule of works and the priorities and resources that need to be allocated.
- Assisting the District Manager with district administration and management.
- Coordinating plant, vehicles, equipment and material resources.
- Overseeing the regions needs with regard to fleet.
- Overseeing working arrangements with the Forest Products Commission (FPC).

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

1. Substantial experience in natural resource management including environmental, recreational, fire, forest and reserve management, with a preference for someone with training and management experience in the operational work of natural resource management across multiple workcentres.
2. Considerable experience and high-level leadership, supervisory, organisational, works program planning, and human resource management skills, including a demonstrated ability to promote staff development, deal with contentious issues and improve performance, empowering staff to achieve agreed outcomes.
3. Evidence of high-level oral communication and interpersonal skills and considerable experience in effective liaison and negotiation at a range of levels including, other government agencies, industry, stakeholders, Aboriginal groups, community special interest groups and the media with evidence of having responded to complex and detailed issues and to resolve them.
4. Considerable experience in and knowledge of administrative and financial management, including budget preparation and expenditure control.
