About the role

MiHaven Constructions is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Architectural Draftsperson to join our team. This is a full-time position based in our Cairns, QLD office. In this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate architectural drawings and technical documentation that form the foundation of our construction projects. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and construction teams to translate design concepts into detailed, buildable plans. This position is integral to ensuring that all projects are executed to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

What you'll be doing

- Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, elevations and sections using CAD software and building information modelling (BIM) tools

- Convert preliminary sketches and design concepts into comprehensive technical drawings that meet building codes and industry standards

- Collaborate with architects and senior designers to ensure drawings accurately reflect design intent and project specifications

- Maintain consistency across all drawing sets and ensure proper documentation of revisions and amendments

- Conduct quality checks on drawings to identify errors, inconsistencies or omissions before submission

- Prepare drawing schedules, specification notes and annotations required for construction teams

- Liaise with construction staff, consultants and clients to clarify drawing details and resolve design queries

- Stay current with building regulations, Australian Standards and relevant compliance requirements

- Manage and organize project files, documentation and drawing archives in accordance with company procedures





- Contribute to the development and refinement of office drawing standards and templates

What we're looking for

- Degree in Architectural Drafting, Architectural Technology, or equivalent professional qualification

- Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar tools

- Strong knowledge of Australian Building Codes, National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant building standards

- Excellent technical drawing skills with the ability to produce accurate, detailed plans and specifications

- Solid spatial awareness and the ability to visualize three-dimensional designs from two-dimensional drawings

- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all documentation

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and resolve drawing and design issues

- Time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

- Experience with BIM workflows and coordination is highly desirable

- Experience in residential, commercial or industrial construction projects would be advantageous
