First-Year Apprentice Refrigeration Mechanic

Are you looking to start a career in refrigeration and want to learn from experienced tradespeople? We are looking for a Refrigeration Mechanic Apprentice to join our team, with a strong focus on industrial refrigeration and ammonia systems.

This is a great chance for someone who wants more than just domestic and light commercial air conditioning. You’ll get hands-on experience working on large industrial refrigeration systems, ammonia plants, cool rooms, process cooling equipment, compressors, pumps, controls and associated electrical equipment.

About the role

As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced refrigeration mechanics and gradually develop the skills required to become a qualified refrigeration mechanic.

Your work will include

- Servicing and maintaining industrial refrigeration equipment
- Working on ammonia refrigeration systems
- Working on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps and associated equipment
- Fault finding and breakdown repairs
- Preventative maintenance
- Working on cool rooms, freezers and process cooling systems
- Basic electrical fault finding and controls
- Installation and commissioning of refrigeration equipment
- Learning to read refrigeration, electrical and control drawings




- Working safely around large industrial refrigeration plants

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:
- Is genuinely interested in becoming a Refrigeration Mechanic
- Has a good work ethic and is willing to get their hands dirty
- Is reliable, punctual and keen to learn
- Can work well as part of a team
- Takes safety seriously
- Has an interest in industrial refrigeration, mechanical systems and electrical controls
- Has a driver's licence or is working towards one
