JOB OVERVIEW Join a talented and collaborative graphic design team that delivers creative, high-quality products to help veterans, their families and the wider community access and understand information and commemorate service.

As a Senior Graphic Designer, you'll work on a diverse range of projects across print and digital channels. You'll have the opportunity to lead complex design projects, provide expert advice and support the development of design capability across the team.

The Communications Branch, within the?Ministerial?Engagement & Communications?Division, provides strategic communications, online publishing and corporate communication services that support the Department, the Repatriation?Commission, Veteran and Family Wellbeing Agency?and the Ministers?for Veterans’ Affairs.?The Graphic Design team plays an important role in that work.

We're looking for an experienced designer who enjoys solving communication challenges through great design.

You'll be confident taking a project from brief to final product, whether that's a publication, campaign asset, infographic, report, presentation or digital content. You can turn complex information into clear and engaging visual communications and are comfortable working across both print and digital channels.

You'll enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders, asking the right questions, providing expert advice and helping clients find the best communication solution. You bring a strong eye for detail, take pride in producing quality work, and can balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

DUTIES

As an APS 6 you will be required to:

- Design and deliver high-quality communication products across print and digital channels, including publications, reports, presentations, infographics, campaign materials, forms and digital content.
- Manage design projects from initial brief through to production and delivery, ensuring outcomes meet audience, business and communication objectives.




- Support the day-to-day operation of the studio by providing leadership and support to the team, assisting the EL1 Graphic Design Studio Manager with workload coordination, timesheet management, team administration and other routine operational activities.
- Translate complex information into clear, engaging and accessible visual communications.
- Provide expert graphic design advice and recommendations to stakeholders across the department.
- Apply DVA and Australian Government branding requirements and quality standards across all design products.
- Manage relationships with printers, suppliers and other service providers to support successful project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and quality assurance support to team members, contributing to capability development across the studio.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design services, workflows, templates, tools and processes.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

- A relevant tertiary qualification in graphic design, visual communication or a closely related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.

ELIGIBILITY

- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo pre-engagement screening checks, even if they currently have a security clearance. The screening checks are conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
- Any successful candidate will be required to obtain and/or maintain, a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance as a minimum.
