Details: Are you a strategic nursing leader with a passion for influencing policy, driving innovation, and advancing the nursing and midwifery professions? We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Office of the ACT Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer.

Reporting to the Senior Nursing Advisor, you will play a key role in providing expert advice and strategic support on professional nursing and midwifery issues that shape healthcare delivery and clinical practice across the ACT. Working collaboratively within a high-performing team, you will contribute to the development of policies, projects and initiatives that strengthen the nursing and midwifery workforce and improve health outcomes.

In this dynamic role, you will lead the planning and delivery of priority projects, undertake research and analysis to inform decision-making, and prepare high-quality briefings, submissions, reports and speeches for Ministerial, Legislative Assembly and Cabinet processes. You will build and maintain strong partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, health services, regulatory and education providers, and professional and industrial organisations.

The successful applicant will demonstrate highly developed communication,



analytical and project management skills, along with the ability to provide strategic advice in a complex policy setting. You will have a collaborative approach, strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, and a commitment to advancing the nursing and midwifery professions.

This position may involve the direct supervision of one staff member and off ers a unique opportunity to contribute to health policy and professional leadership at a jurisdictional level.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:

- Registered or be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
- Holds postgraduate tertiary qualifications relevant to the role.
- Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.





Note: This is a temporary position available 28 September 2026 until 22 March 2027 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
