About the role

Working alongside the OSHC Director, the Assistant OSHC Director will help coordinate the day-to-day operation of the service, support educators and contribute to providing a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children can learn, play and thrive. The position is a minimum of 30 hours per week, working across a combination of floor-based educational care and administration.

Key responsibilities

- Support the OSHC Director with the day-to-day management of the service
- Lead, supervise and support educators, students and volunteers
- Assist with the planning, implementation and evaluation of quality, developmentally appropriate programs
- Support staff training, program planning, compliance and administrative tasks
- Ensure the service operates in accordance with policies, procedures, the National Quality Standards and relevant regulatory requirements
- Promote the safety, security and wellbeing of all children
- Build positive and respectful relationships with children, families, educators and the wider school community
- Support children's individual needs, inclusion and social and emotional wellbeing
- Contribute to quality improvement planning and ongoing service development
- Assist with workplace health and safety, risk management and incident reporting

About you

- A Diploma or equivalent or higher qualification approved by ACECQA for OSHC in South Australia,



or successful completion of two years of an ACECQA-approved tertiary degree
- Knowledge of children's rights, wellbeing and development within an OSHC environment
- An understanding of education and care legislation, National Quality Standards and child protection responsibilities
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills
- The ability to build positive, secure and respectful relationships with children
- The ability to facilitate engaging learning experiences and respond to children's interests and contributions
- The ability to recognise and respond appropriately to hazards, risks, emergencies and incidents
- A commitment to inclusion and meeting the individual needs of all children
- A current Working with Children Check
- Relevant mandatory Child Safety certification, current RRHAN-EC certification, current First Aid – HLTAID-012 and Food Handling certification
