What You'll Be Doing To build a culturally strong and sustainable Aboriginal health workforce by supporting trainees to develop clinical skills,

cultural capability, and a commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities across Southern NSW.

Selection Criteria

- Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (NB applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW). Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively and sensitively liaise and communicate with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities, and agencies and willingness to obtain a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice), and eligibility to be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated understanding of the impact of colonisation, intergenerational trauma,



and current social determinants on Aboriginal health outcomes, such as: Awareness of health inequities experienced by Aboriginal communities, understanding of the importance of culturally safe and responsive care Ability to reflect on how this knowledge informs skilled practice
- Demonstrated interest in developing a career within Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD), including: A commitment to working in rural and regional communities and an understanding of the benefits and challenges of delivering healthcare in these settings.
- Demonstrated passion and commitment to contributing to improved health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities, including commitment to culturally informed practice and community connection.
- Demonstrated ability to Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and communities; Work respectfully and collaboratively within teams & build positive working relationships across diverse settings.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn, accept feedback, and grow professionally with the ability to adapt to different environments and service contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and work autonomously to effectively prioritise workloads under limited supervision within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ license and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
