About the role
With the expansion of Moray & Agnew’s on the ground presence in Tasmania, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate or Senior Associate to join our insurance team. This role will have a particular focus on workers compensation claims, but offers attractive variety: you can also expect to work on medical malpractice, liability, and NDIA merits review work. Working with Partners and Senior Associates recognised for their expertise, you will have day-to-day conduct of a diverse portfolio of litigated and pre-litigation matters.
This role provides a rare opportunity to develop a practice across several high-demand areas, within a supportive and collegiate national team. It would suit candidates seeking variety, autonomy, meaningful client contact, and strong career development pathways.
About you To be a competitive candidate for this role, you will be a lawyer with 3+ years PAE ideally gained in a defendant setting. However, candidates from plaintiff or insurer backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. In addition to your experience in insurance litigation, health law, personal injury, workers compensation, and/or administrative law, you will bring:
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex medical and legal issues clearly;
- Confidence and presence, enabling you to undertake appearance work in Tribunals and Courts effectively;
- A client-focused approach, with a commitment to building solid relationships with insurers, government agencies, and other external stakeholders;
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines in files with strict statutory timeframes;
- A pragmatic, commercial mindset with a focus on early identification of risks and strategic pathways to resolution;
- Initiative, sound judgment and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and An interest in developing expertise across several intersecting practice areas in a high-performing national group.
