We are seeking an experienced and reliable Bricklayer to join our team. The successful applicant will undertake brick and block laying across a range of construction projects, working from plans and specifications to deliver accurate, high-quality workmanship.
About the Role
This is a hands-on position involving the construction, repair and finishing of brick and block structures. You will be expected to prepare work areas and materials, set out jobs accurately, lay bricks and blocks, and ensure completed work is level, aligned and meets project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications to determine measurements, materials and job requirements
- Measure and set out brick and block work in accordance with project plans
- Prepare mortar and apply mortar beds and joints using appropriate bricklaying tools
- Lay bricks, blocks and other masonry materials to construct walls, partitions and other structures
- Check levels, lines, heights and alignment throughout the construction process
- Measure, cut and shape bricks and blocks to suit corners, openings and other required spaces
- Install damp-proof materials and prepare foundations and base surfaces where required
- Remove excess mortar and finish joints to achieve a neat and skilled result
- Carry out repairs and maintenance to existing brickwork, blockwork and masonry structures
- Erect and dismantle restricted-height scaffolding where required and permitted
- Safely operate and maintain bricklaying hand tools, cutting equipment and other relevant equipment
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite and comply with workplace health and safety requirements
About You / Requirements To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying or an equivalent relevant qualification
- At least 1 year of full-time relevant work experience as a Bricklayer
- Demonstrated practical experience in brick and block laying
- Ability to read and interpret plans, take measurements and accurately set out work
- Sound knowledge of bricklaying techniques, materials, mortar preparation and finishing
- Ability to accurately cut and shape bricks and blocks
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic, reliability and good time management skills
Pay: $79,423.00 per year
