About the role

We are seeking a Canteen Assistant to join the team at Wauchope Public School Canteen in Wauchope, NSW. This is a casual position that plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of our school canteen.

Key responsibilities

- Operating canteen equipment safely and maintaining proper food handling practices at all times
- Serving customers in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner during service periods
- Taking orders and processing payments
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic working setting, including washing dishes, utensils, and surfaces
- Restocking ingredients, supplies, and serving materials as needed
- Following all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper storage and temperature control
- Daily, weekly and end term cleaning

What we're looking for

- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices,



with a current Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with students, staff, and parents
- Reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to consistent attendance
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry items
- A friendly, patient, and service-oriented approach to customer
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team under supervision
- Current working with children check
- 1 day per week approx 6 hours
