We are looking for someone to carry on the work of growing a thriving Children’s ministry to raise the next generation for Christ. HTK is a church of three congregations seeking to speak the truth in love to save and mature people in Christ. We need a leader passionate about teaching God’s word to little ones, skilled in training young leaders and eager to serve in a staff team committed to sound doctrine and Christ-like love.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsibility for running children’s Sunday 10am morning church program (Preschool to Year 5)
- Programming, preparing and training volunteers for weekly Family Talk at 10am service
- Recruiting volunteer leaders for children’s program
- Membership in pastoral staff team, including weekly meetings and contributing to overall church planning and strategy
- Training, supporting and mentoring volunteer leaders
- Promoting parental leadership in discipling children and resources for this
- Strategic planning and implementation of evangelistic events for children (eg Pupil free day kids club; Christmas events)
- Coordination of occasional events aimed at connecting families and deepening their fellowship in the church (eg Sunday picnics; children’s program at church weekends away)
- In partnership with the Safe Ministry Representative, ensuring compliance and implementation of policies and procedures
- SRE coordination and teaching (one local primary school, four classes)




- Committed participation and contribution as possible to our 5pm congregation

Essential requirements

- A deep thankfulness and joy in Christ that manifests the fruit of the Spirit and passion to see God’s church grow
- A love of children and conviction about their need to be discipled in Christ
- Reformed evangelical convictions
- A theological diploma or degree (or working towards one)
- Demonstrated ability to teach the Bible faithfully, clearly, and practically to children
- Experience training and pastoring volunteer ministry teams
- Personal Safe Ministry requirements up to date

Desirable attributes

- High capacity to build rapport and respect with people of diverse age and background
- Willingness to serve on a team with generosity of spirit and commitment to the vision and mission of the whole church
- Efficiency with administration
- Experience with SRE
- Emotional maturity and pastoral sensitivity (especially important when working with families and in crisis situations)

This is a part time position (3 days per week). The successful applicant will work closely with the Senior Pastor and ministry team while taking primary responsibility for children's ministry. Remuneration will be provided in accordance with the Sydney Anglican Diocese remuneration guidelines, taking into account qualifications and experience.
