About the role

This role is for a hands-on supervisor who leads from the front, manages day-to-day site operations with minimal supervision, and reports daily to the day shift project manager. You will spend approximately 80% of your time on night shifts, supervising crews on site and working away from home as required.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee installation of traffic signal conduits, pits, footings, loop detection, and structural civil works. Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and precisely in accordance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements before handover.
- Take direct responsibility for civil works associated with major roadworks, including the construction and installation of footpaths, curbs, guttering, and asphalting operations.
- Proactively identify, confidently capture, and efficiently manage job variations in office to ensure all additional works are accurately documented and accounted for.
- Coordinate day and night shift activities with the project manager. Ensure the required resources, plant, materials, and labour are available to keep the works progressing smoothly.
- Confidently deal with clients, developers, contractors, suppliers, and traffic control companies while building and maintaining excellent working relationships. Attend client and project meetings when required.
- Lead pre-starts and toolbox meetings. Ensure the crews understand and follow relevant SWMS, site requirements, approved Traffic Guidance Schemes, and ROL requirements. Ensure drawings, permits, and documentation are in place before a shift starts.
- Maintain and look after company assets, ensuring the crew treats company vehicles and equipment correctly.
- Keep accurate daily logs via the company app (including crew hours, quantities, delays, weather, and photos).



Ensure defects are recorded and closed out while working towards KPIs and performance targets.
- Take the time to coach operators and ground crew, treating mistakes as teaching opportunities to help them improve their skills.

About you

- Current White Card and Driver's Licence (Essential)
- HR Drivers Licence and Excavator SOA / VOC will be very highly regarded
- 5–10 years' experience in civil construction supervision, traffic signal installations, intersection builds, or major road upgrades (including heavy exposure to curbing, footpaths, and asphalt works)
- A background or degree in Civil Engineering is highly preferred
- A strong commercial mindset with the confidence to spot, claim, and execute job variations as they arise on site
- Comfortable working predominantly night shifts (approx. 80%) and traveling/working away from home to support regional NSW projects
- A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of the site, has an eye for detail, and possesses a strong understanding of productivity
- A willingness to develop your knowledge of the Traffic Signal Specification and continue learning as you progress
- Comfortable using a mobile app for daily logs, team messages, and reporting
