Synectic

Devonport

Synectic is a Tasmanian-owned, state-wide accounting and advisory firm of around 40 brilliant and dedicated people. We’re an Employer of Choice and we work hard to make this a genuinely great place to come to work, where people come first.

The opportunity

Great advice needs great support behind it. That's where you come in. We're looking for a capable, switched-on Client Services Administrator & Receptionist to join our Devonport team and be the friendly face our clients meet, while keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. This one’s for a natural people-person who loves being organised, enjoys variety, and takes real satisfaction in being the person everyone can count on. If you’re also curious about technology and the ways AI is starting to change how work gets done, you’ll feel right at home. We’re genuinely excited about where technology is heading, and we want teammates who are too.

This role is based in our Devonport office and can be full-time or part time – whatever works for the right person.

The role

No two days look quite the same. You'll be the face and voice of our office, and the go-to team member who keeps clients supported and the office humming. Day to day, that looks like:

- Being a reliable point of contact for client questions and requests, and the welcoming face of Synectic
- Coordinating your team, setting up jobs and scheduling work
- Preparing proposals, bills and documents and keeping them moving
- Keeping our systems and information accurate and tidy
- Looking after corporate secretarial, ABR and ATO requirements for clients
- Pitching in on the everyday things that keep an office running: reception, meetings,

mail, and the like

You’ll also help us keep getting better – spotting where a process could be smoother, and jumping on new tools (including AI) that take the busywork out of the day and free you up for the things that matter.

What we’re looking for

We care more about the right person than the perfect CV. You’ll thrive here if you:
- Are warm and approachable, and genuinely enjoy being the first point of contact for people
- Love being organised and can juggle competing priorities
- Communicate clearly and write well
- Are comfortable with technology and pick up new systems quickly
- Are curious about AI and how it can make work better, and are happy to give things a go
- Take initiative, use good judgement, and like being the dependable ‘go-to’ person
- Enjoy being part of a team and pulling in the same direction

Experience that’s a bonus

Attitude and potential matter most to us, but any of these would be a nice bonus:
- Previous administration, reception or client service experience
- Confidence with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience in a professional services, accounting or advisory environment
- Having used AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot in your work or study

About us

Our purpose is to enhance the prosperity of our people, clients and community. We have a strong team culture and a long-standing reputation for excellent work - some of Tasmania’s most successful people and businesses choose to work with us. We’re also proud to be a progressive firm. We’ve been transforming the way we use technology and AI internally, and we bring our whole team along for the ride. As an Employer of Choice, we’re recognised by our team, business leaders and the Tasmanian Government for the way we look after our people.

Benefits

We look after our team with a range of benefits, including:

- Contemporary offices and industry-leading technology
- Training and mentorship from an experienced, supportive team
- Real opportunities to grow your career if you choose to
- Four weeks annual leave, with a salary sacrifice option to purchase up to four weeks more
- A ‘Synectic Day’ – extra time off to ease the pressure when life gets busy
- Support through our Employee Assistance Program
- Team activities that support your wellbeing and connection with colleagues and community
- A team who work hard, have fun, and genuinely enjoy what they do

How to apply

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Apply through the Seek link with your resume and a one-page cover letter telling us a little about you and why this role appeals. Applications need to come through Seek rather than email, and we may start interviews early – so don’t sit on it. If you have questions about this opportunity, please contact Naomi Close on (03) 6424 1451 6424 1451).
