We are looking for an experienced and passionate Clinician to join our Courage Project team in Mackay. This is an opportunity to use your clinical skills to provide specialist therapeutic support to children and young people who have experienced sexual and/or physical harm, working alongside a team that is deeply committed to helping children heal.

Relocating from Brisbane or elsewhere? We’ll help you make the move with a $5,000 relocation allowance.

The work that matters The Courage Project provides trauma-informed mental health services to children and young people across the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac Regions who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, physical and/or sexual abuse or assault, family violence and self-harm.

We are looking for someone who is particularly passionate about working therapeutically with boys and young people who have experienced harm and who understands the importance of creating a safe, trusting environment in which they can engage.

You’ll provide specialist counselling and therapeutic intervention through face-to-face, telephone and online sessions, undertake psychological and other assessments, prepare professional reports and maintain high-quality clinical records.

You’ll also work collaboratively with children, families, colleagues and other professionals to support positive outcomes for the children and young people we work with.

The role includes fortnightly overnight outreach to the Isaac and Whitsunday regions, providing services to children and families across the broader community. This is meaningful clinical work where your experience, judgement and ability to build strong therapeutic relationships can make a genuine difference.

Could this be you?

You are an experienced clinician who brings both clinical capability and a genuine passion for working with children and young people who have experienced trauma and harm. You will ideally have:

- Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work or counselling.
- A minimum of two years’ experience providing counselling, preferably within trauma-informed practice.
- A strong interest in, and ideally experience with,



working therapeutically with boys and young people who have experienced sexual and/or physical harm.
- A sound understanding of the impact of trauma on children, young people and families.
- Experience undertaking assessment, therapeutic intervention, case management and professional reporting.
- A sound understanding of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting requirements.
- The ability to build trusting and respectful therapeutic relationships with children and families.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and services.
- A commitment to socially and culturally inclusive practice.
- Registration, eligibility for registration and/or membership with the relevant qualified body.
- A current, or willingness to obtain, Blue Card and National Police Certificate.
- The ability and willingness to undertake fortnightly overnight outreach to the Isaac and Whitsunday regions.
