ICI Industries Pty Ltd, trading as Irribiz, is an established Australian business specialising in the design, supply, installation and management of agricultural irrigation, water infrastructure and related civil construction projects. Based in Griffith, New South Wales, Irribiz delivers irrigation and water-management solutions to agricultural, commercial and government clients. Our projects may involve irrigation systems, pumping stations, pipelines, water-storage infrastructure, earthworks, civil works, electrical and mechanical components, and associated construction activities.

Due to ongoing business requirements and current and anticipated projects, Irribiz is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join its team in Griffith, NSW.

Annual salary: $120,000 plus superannuation

Reports to: Operations Manager

Position Summary The Construction Project Manager will plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate irrigation, water infrastructure and associated civil construction projects undertaken by Irribiz. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning and design coordination through procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and final handover. The position requires effective coordination of clients, consultants, engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, site personnel and internal departments.

The Construction Project

Manager will ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, within approved budgets and timeframes, and in accordance with contractual requirements, engineering specifications, quality standards and applicable legislation.

Key Responsibilities The Construction Project Manager will:

· Plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate agricultural irrigation, water infrastructure and related civil construction projects from commencement to completion.

· Review contracts, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and client requirements.

· Prepare project plans, construction programs, budgets, schedules and resource requirements.

· Coordinate civil, structural, irrigation, mechanical, electrical and other technical works.

· Manage procurement and timely delivery of materials, equipment, pumps, pipelines and project components.

· Select and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and external service providers.

· Supervise project personnel, site supervisors, contractors and subcontractors.

· Monitor project costs, progress, performance and milestones, taking corrective action when required.

· Liaise with clients, engineers, consultants, authorities, suppliers and contractors.

· Identify and manage project risks, variations,



time extensions and contractual claims.

· Ensure compliance with approved designs, contracts, Australian standards, WHS, environmental and quality requirements.

· Coordinate inspections, testing, commissioning, defect rectification and final handover.

· Maintain project documentation and complete post-project reviews.

Duties to Be Performed The person appointed to the position will perform the following duties:

1. Interpret architectural, engineering and technical drawings and specifications.
2. Prepare project programs, schedules, budgets and resource plans.
3. Determine labour, plant, equipment, materials and subcontractor requirements.
4. Coordinate the preparation and submission of construction plans, approvals and other project documentation.
5. Negotiate and administer contracts with clients, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
6. Coordinate the work of site supervisors, tradespeople, contractors, engineers and other project personnel.
7. Monitor daily and weekly construction progress and compare actual performance with the approved project schedule.
8. Monitor costs and cash-flow requirements and report actual and projected expenditure to management.
9. Investigate delays, technical problems, safety concerns, quality issues and cost variances.
10. Implement corrective measures to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
11. Inspect construction work and arrange required quality-control testing and certification.
12. Ensure construction activities comply with applicable legislation, approval conditions, Australian standards and contractual requirements.
13. Coordinate practical completion, testing, commissioning, client handover and defects-liability obligations.
14. Prepare regular written reports concerning project progress, expenditure, risks, safety, quality and anticipated completion dates.
15. Perform other construction project-management duties reasonably associated with the position.

Skills Required

Applicants should possess

- Strong construction project-planning and management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from commencement through to completion and handover.
- Sound understanding of construction processes, contracts, budgeting, scheduling, procurement and cost control.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, specifications and contractual documents.
- Solid leadership and personnel-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, suppliers and consultants.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder-management skills.




- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety, environmental and quality-management requirements.
- Competency in relevant project-management, scheduling and office software.
- A current Australian driver’s licence, or the ability to obtain one, is desirable.

Education Required Applicants should have one of the following:

- A relevant bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in construction management, project management, civil engineering, engineering, building or a closely related discipline, together with at least five years of relevant construction project-management experience; or
- A relevant diploma or advanced diploma or diploma, together with at least five years of substantial and relevant construction project-management experience.

In exceptional cases, an applicant who does not hold a relevant formal qualification may be considered where the applicant has at least ten years of extensive and highly relevant industry experience, including a demonstrated record of successfully managing complex construction, civil, irrigation or water-infrastructure projects. The suitability of applicants relying primarily on extensive work experience will be assessed individually, having regard to the scale, complexity and relevance of the projects they have managed.

Experience Required

Applicants must demonstrate

- At least five years of relevant experience in construction project management where supported by an appropriate relevant qualification; or
- At least ten years of extensive and relevant industry experience where the applicant does not hold a relevant formal qualification.

Experience should include responsibility for:
- Planning and delivering construction projects;
- Managing project budgets and construction schedules;
- Supervising project personnel and subcontractors;
- Managing procurement and contractual arrangements;
- Liaising with clients, consultants, engineers and regulatory authorities;
- Monitoring workplace safety, quality and statutory compliance; and
- Managing projects through construction, commissioning and final handover.

Previous experience in irrigation, agricultural infrastructure, civil construction, pipelines, pumping systems or water-management projects will be highly regarded.
