Are you an experienced content or editorial qualified who loves great stories, knows how to create engaging digital content, and has a genuine interest in the equestrian world?

Equestrian Life is looking for a contract Content Manager to join our team to cover a parental leave contract of up to 12 months.

This is an opportunity to step into a varied and hands-on role, as part of a broader equine business and team, where you'll have genuine ownership of the content and editorial function and work across print, digital, social media, email and commercial content and help Equestrian Life maintain its position as one of Australia's leading equestrian media brands.

THE ROLE

Working across editorial, digital content and commercial content, you will be responsible managing the day-to-day content and editorial output for Equestrian Life, including writing, editing, commissioning and coordinating contributors, website publishing, social media and EDMs. You'll be a great fit for this role if you are a confident writer and editor who is equally comfortable interviewing someone for a feature story, editing a contributor's article, publishing content to a website and coordinating multiple deadlines at once.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Under the guidance of our Manager, Equine, you’ll be responsible for: Editorial & Content

- Identify relevant stories, trends, events and people within the Australian equestrian community.
- Research and write short-form news stories, longer-form editorial features, event reports and digital content.
- Interview subjects and turn interviews into compelling stories.
- Edit and proofread articles from contributors, ensuring accuracy, consistency and quality.
- Maintain the editorial calendar and ensure content is delivered to schedule.

Contributor & Publishing Management

- Coordinate a network of contributors/freelance writers to deliver timely articles
- Brief and communicate with contributors throughout the content development process.
- Coordinate editing, artwork and publishing requirements with the sub-editor and designer
- Manage content from initial idea through to publication.

Digital & Social Media

- Publish and manage editorial content across the Equestrian Life website.
- Create and publish engaging content across Facebook and Instagram.
- Keep website content up to date and make updates as required.




- Create and distribute EDMs.
- Look for opportunities to grow engagement and reach across Equestrian Life's digital channels.

Commercial Content & Advertising

- Respond to advertising enquiries and assist with advertising sales where required.
- Manage advertising accounts and coordinate timelines, assets and campaigns
- Liaise with advertisers and clients to develop sponsored or commercial editorial content.
- Coordinate website advertising placements and ensure digital advertising is updated
- Coordinate invoicing as required.

General & Operational

- Respond to general enquiries via email and phone.
- Track editorial and content-related expenses and assist with budget management.
- Liaise with the digital/website team on website updates and development requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the wider equestrian portfolio team.
- Manage the end-to-end production critical path, ensuring products are delivered on time and in full.
- Proactively identify, escalate and resolve production risks, delays and supply chain issues.
- Support supplier negotiations and costing activities to achieve margin targets, cost savings and favourable commercial terms.
- Build strong supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance across quality, lead times, service and delivery.
- Maintain accurate production, product and purchase order information within AP21. Ensure all system data is current, reliable and supports effective business decision-making.
- Coordinate with Finance, Product, Design, Planning, Merchandising and Logistics teams to ensure alignment on production timelines, shipments and payments.

WHAT YOU BRING

We're looking for someone who is a great writer, highly organised and genuinely interested in people, stories and the equestrian industry.

You will ideally have

- Previous experience in journalism, editorial, content management, publishing, communications
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.




- Strong interviewing and storytelling skills.
- Experience managing contributors, freelancers or multiple content stakeholders.
- Experience publishing content through a CMS (ideally WordPress) and managing social media platforms.
- Experience with EDM platforms such as Mailchimp or Klaviyo.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of editorial quality.
- The confidence to communicate with contributors, advertisers, suppliers, athletes and industry stakeholders.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of the content function.
- A genuine interest in and understanding of horses and the equestrian industry is highly desirable.

ABOUT US

You'll be joining a passionate team of six people working across three Australia-owned Equine businesses in the portfolio, including EQ Life, EquestPro and Goodwoods. All team members bring a strong connection to the Australian equine community. Our equine businesses are part of the broader Propel Group, including the apparel brand RB Sellars.

The equine team primarily work at our Dandenong South location on Tuesdays and Thursdays, however, we’re open to applications for this contract role to work out of our Federal Mills, North Geelong premises.
