You'll be responsible for planning, executing and optimising directional drilling operations to hit targeted wellbore trajectories safely and efficiently. You'll work closely with drilling engineers, rig personnel, client reps and geologists to keep drilling on track and troubleshoot downhole challenges as they come up.

What You'll Be Doing

- Interpreting drilling plans and executing directional operations to spec, adjusting parameters in real time to hold the planned well path

- Advising on trajectory re-planning with engineers, geologists and drilling supervisors, and communicating hazards as they arise

- Setting up, maintaining and operating directional tools, motors and MWD/LWD equipment, keeping BHA inventory and records current

- Monitoring torque, drag and other operational parameters, and troubleshooting issues like wellbore instability, stuck pipe or lost circulation

- Running pre-job safety meetings and risk assessments, and staying on top of HSE, iVMS and incident reporting requirements

- Maintaining accurate drilling logs, daily performance reports, and EOWR/post-well data





- Mentoring junior field engineers on day-to-day well-site work

What You'll Bring

- 2-3 years' experience as a Directional Driller in oil and gas, including work with adjustable bent housing and steerable motor assemblies

- Operational competency with MWD systems in both Mud Pulse and EM Telemetry; Rotary Steerable experience a plus

- Solid understanding of drilling procedures, safety regulations, and anti-collision/Ellipse of Uncertainty requirements

- Proficiency with Landmark Compass and the Microsoft Office suite

- Robust communication skills and the physical stamina for rig floor work

- Current Australian driver's licence, First Aid (HLTAID011), CPR (HLTAID009) and 4WD (VEH305E) tickets

Pay: From $800.00 per day
