About the role
As a DS1 Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support based on each participant's individual needs, choices and goals.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting with personal care and daily living activities
- Supporting participants with household tasks and meal preparation
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Supporting community access, appointments and social activities
- Encouraging participants to develop and maintain their independence
- Providing medication assistance within your training and scope
- Following individual support plans, behaviour support plans and mealtime management plans
- Completing accurate shift notes and incident reports
- Communicating professionally with participants, families and the DS1 management team
- Supporting participants with complex or high-intensity needs where appropriately trained
About you
- Compassionate, respectful and committed to person-centred support
- Reliable, punctual and able to follow established support plans
- Skilled in their presentation and communication
- Patient and comfortable supporting people with different communication needs
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willing to complete required documentation and training
- Available for weekday, evening,
weekend or sleepover shifts
- Flexible and able to travel to different locations across Canberra
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Ageing Support, Community Services or a related qualification
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration, First Aid and CPR certificates, NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate, Australian working rights, and unrestricted driver licence

Benefits
- Minimum casual weekday rate of $45.28 per hour, including casual loading
- Superannuation paid in addition
- Weekend, public holiday, shift and overtime rates paid in accordance with the SCHADS Award
- Applicable sleepover and other Award allowances
- Higher rates may apply depending on qualifications, classification and duties
