About the role The Disability Support Worker provides safe, respectful, person-centred support to people with disability in accordance with each participant's individual support plan, goals, preferences, assessed needs and risk controls. The role supports participants to exercise choice and control, build independence, participate in the community and maintain their health, wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

Key responsibilities

- Provide person-centred support in accordance with participant support plans, routines, goals, behaviour support strategies, risk assessments and GRSS policies and procedures.
- Assist with personal care and activities of daily living, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence support, mobility and transfers, within training and competency.
- Support household activities including cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, meal planning and meal preparation while encouraging participant independence.
- Support participants to develop daily living, communication, social, budgeting, employment-readiness and other skills relevant to their goals.
- Support community access, social participation, recreation, appointments, education and employment activities identified in participant plans.
- Transport or accompany participants where required in accordance with GRSS procedures and applicable licence, vehicle and insurance requirements.
- Provide medication assistance or administration only where authorised, trained and competent, and complete required records accurately.
- Adapt communication to each participant's communication needs, preferences, culture and circumstances.




- Work professionally with participants, families, guardians, colleagues, health professionals, therapists and other authorised stakeholders.
- Promote dignity, privacy, autonomy, cultural safety, choice and control, including culturally responsive support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants.

About you

- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) minimum
- Current unrestricted driver's licence where driving is an inherent requirement.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening clearance and any Working with Children clearance required for the participant cohort and jurisdiction.
- National Police Check where required by GRSS, funding arrangements or applicable law.
- Current First Aid certification and other mandatory training or competencies required for allocated duties, including manual handling where applicable.
- Respectful, reliable and professional conduct with a strong commitment to participant rights and person-centred practice.
- Ability to follow support plans, instructions, policies and risk controls and exercise appropriate judgement within the scope of the role.
- Effective verbal and written communication and clear, factual and timely record keeping.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, respond appropriately to changing participant needs and escalate concerns.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professional boundaries, continuous learning and culturally secure practice.
