Disability Support Worker | The right connection can change everything.

Unity Disability Care | Townsville, Northern QLD

Casual | Flexible availability

At Unity Disability Care, we believe great support starts with a genuine connection.

We’re looking for experienced Disability Support Workers who want to do more than tick off a task list — people who enjoy getting to know participants, discovering shared interests, and helping create days that are meaningful, enjoyable, and empowering.

Whether that means heading out for a fishing trip, working on a car, getting creative, enjoying a workout, or simply supporting someone to feel comfortable and confident in their own home, your personality, interests, and approach to support can make a real difference.

What makes Unity different?

We match support workers with participants based on compatibility, not just qualifications. We take the time to understand what matters to each participant — their interests, preferences, communication style, and the kind of support they want. This helps create stronger relationships, more meaningful support, and a better experience for everyone.

If you believe the best support is built on trust, respect, and genuine connection, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

You’ll provide person-centred support to participants with a range of needs, including:

- Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
- Complex care needs
- Challenging behaviours
- Manual handling, hoisting, and personal care
- Medication assistance
- Psychosocial, emotional, and social support
- Community access and lifestyle activities

- Support to achieve individual NDIS plan goals

You may also support participants to enjoy their hobbies and interests, including fishing, cars, arts and crafts, painting, exercise, gardening, and photography. We’re looking for people who are reliable, compassionate, and confident supporting participants with higher care needs. You’ll ideally have experience in manual handling, hoisting, personal care, complex care, and medication assistance, along with strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to person-centred support.

Active overnight and sleepover availability is highly desirable.

What you’ll need

- Current NDIS Worker Screening ID
- First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Blue Card
- Driver’s Licence
- Proof of Working Rights in Australia
- Comprehensive Car Insurance
- Relevant qualification (Cert III/IV in Disability, Individual Support, or similar) — desirable

Why join Unity?

- Supportive and inclusive team environment
- Ongoing training and career development
- Opportunities to build meaningful, long-term support relationships
- EAP services
- Dedicated People & Culture Manager for internal support
- Social events

If you’re an experienced Disability Support Worker who wants to provide quality care, build genuine relationships, and support people to live life on their own terms, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and join the Unity team.

Unity Disability Care is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from people of all genders, cultures, and backgrounds.
