Afrimat Mining Services, based at D&B; Western Cape, has a vacancy for a:

Drilling Assistant

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Key Competencies

- Grade 12 certificate
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in an open pit-mining setting

- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Able to work well under pressure
- Own Transport & accommodation
- Blast assistant certificate will be an advantage

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)

- Assist Drill Rig Operator with drilling activities
- Ensure sufficient drill holes are cleaned for the day’s production
- Drilled holes properly plugged
- Assist with sharpening of drill bits
- Ensure that no less than 2 buckets of stemming are placed next to each drilled hole




- Continually monitor drill rig, report any mechanical faults to Operator
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Manager
- Help with blasting activities
