About the role

Ladybird Manor Montessori Early Learning is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Early Childhood Ballet Teacher to join our team on a contract basis. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality ballet education to young learners in our Adelaide SA 5000 location, fostering a love of movement, music and creative expression in an early learning environment. You will play a vital role in supporting the holistic development of our students through the medium of ballet, integrating movement and rhythm into our Montessori-inspired curriculum approach.

Key responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate ballet classes to early childhood students, ensuring activities are developmentally suitable and aligned with Montessori principles
- Create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning setting where all children feel confident to explore movement and develop their physical capabilities
- Teach fundamental ballet techniques, including posture, balance, coordination and basic movements, adapted for young learners
- Incorporate music, rhythm and creative expression into lessons to enhance engagement and promote love of dance
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families and staff, communicating progress and observations
- Monitor and assess student development in movement, coordination and confidence, providing constructive feedback
- Maintain all equipment and resources in safe, clean and organised condition
- Adhere to health, safety and duty of care requirements, including supervision and safeguarding protocols
- Collaborate with the early learning team to integrate ballet activities into broader curriculum planning

What we're looking for

- Qualifications in ballet, dance education or early childhood education, or equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience teaching ballet or dance to young children (ages 3-6 years)
- Robust knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching methods




- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain concepts clearly to young learners
- Physical fitness and demonstrated competency in ballet technique
- Patience, creativity and enthusiasm for working with early learners
- Ability to manage groups of young children effectively and maintain classroom engagement
- Current first aid or emergency paediatric care certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Working with Children Check or ability to obtain prior to commencement
- Understanding of and commitment to Montessori principles and child-centred learning approaches (preferred but not essential)
