We are currently seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to join our Perth-based team. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for driving technical excellence and project delivery across our operations and developments.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, overseeing the lifecycle of diverse projects – from concept and design through to construction, commissioning, ramp-up, and optimisation. You'll ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective project execution, aligning with SO4’s business objectives and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor and develop the engineering team to achieve high performance.
- Oversee planning and execution of engineering projects within time, budget and quality constraints.
- Align stakeholders and drive projects through EPCM phases.
- Champion best practices in risk management, QA/QC, safety in design, and regulatory compliance.
- Optimise engineering workflows and resource allocation.
- Provide expert guidance in functional safety, EEHA, SCADA/PLC systems, and hazardous area design.
- Promote a safety-first, ethical, and collaborative culture.
- Manage engineering records, project documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support ramp-up and operational readiness activities.
ABOUT YOU You are an experienced, hands-on leader with a deep understanding of engineering in the resources sector. You’re known for delivering technically complex projects with precision and integrity, and for fostering team excellence.
To be successful, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or related) – MBA highly regarded.
- Minimum 15-20 years' experience in the resources or related industries.
- Proven track record in EPCM, project lifecycle management, and brownfield/greenfield project delivery - demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the Front-end Loading (FEL) principles of in Engineering and Design.
- Demonstrate experience in leading the development and validation of engineering scope and design quality across FEL 1, 2 and 3 phases of project development, the integration of 3D CAD tools to enhance design accuracy to ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with project objectives, constructability consideration, operational requirements and cost-benefit expectations.
- Demonstrate comprehensive understanding and experience in the typical Quality in Design processes that drives a disciplined decision making and high-quality design fit-for-purpose outcomes that support project solutions. Solid knowledge of project cost classification (AACEi), construction practices, and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams and/or functions (projects, planning and/or improvement).
- Significant experience in processing plant, civil, infrastructure (NPI) and sustaining-capital project delivery.
- Experience generating project budgets, forecasts, cashflows and schedules.
- Design, construction and commissioning experience on mining and processing projects.
- Management of principal contractors, vendors and design consultants under EPCM, EPC and owner’s-team models.
- Experience implementing modifications on operating plants and integrating project work with production.
- Exposure to medium-term mine planning sufficient to lead the function and challenge plan quality.
- Established ability to source, interpret and communicate quantitative and qualitative engineering and planning data.
- Expertise in SCADA (Citect), PLCs (Rockwell), LOPA, HAZOPs, QA/QC, and WHS regulations.
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High proficiency in Office 365, Excel, INX, 3D CAD software, Aconex or similar document management systems, and Pronto.
- Eligibility for professional registration with Engineers Australia highly regarded
