About the Role

Keebra Park State High School is seeking a dedicated, empathetic and culturally responsive Identified Indigenous Youth Support Coordinator to join our Mibiny Program, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student support initiative focused on strengthening student engagement, wellbeing, attendance and educational outcomes.

The successful applicant will work alongside another Identified Indigenous Youth Support Worker, forming a collaborative team dedicated to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across the school. Together, the Youth Support Workers will build robust relationships with students and families, provide individualised support and case management, and contribute to culturally responsive programs that strengthen student engagement, belonging and success.

Working in partnership with Ganbina, Australia's leading Indigenous school-to-work transition program, the Youth Support Coordinator will play a key role in providing targeted support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The successful applicant will work closely with students, families, school staff and community agencies to identify and address barriers to engagement and learning and support students to develop the skills, confidence and aspirations required for success.

The role will involve individual case management, mentoring, wellbeing support, advocacy, family engagement and connection to appropriate community services.



The successful applicant will also contribute to the development and delivery of culturally responsive programs and initiatives that strengthen students' sense of belonging, identity and connection to school.

Ganbina will provide comprehensive training and ongoing professional development to support the successful applicant to develop their knowledge and capability in working within an Indigenous school-to-work transition framework.

Your Opportunity

It would be highly desirable to have the following skills and experience:

Demonstrated experience working effectively with young people, particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, in a youth support, education, community or similar setting.

A strong understanding of the social, emotional, cultural and educational needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, with a genuine commitment to culturally safe and responsive practice.

The opportunity to establish strong, respectful and trusting relationships with students and build positive connections with families, carers and community members.

Strong communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young people experiencing complex barriers to education and engagement.

Knowledge of relevant youth, family, community and support services,



with the ability to connect students and families with appropriate external agencies and resources.

Demonstrated ability to provide individualised support, mentoring and case management, including identifying needs, developing support strategies and monitoring student progress.

The opportunity to work collaboratively alongside another Identified Indigenous Youth Support Worker and as part of a broader multidisciplinary school team.

The ability to develop and maintain productive partnerships with school staff, families, external organisations and community stakeholders.

Flexibility, empathy, resilience and a strengths-based approach to supporting young people.

Strong organisational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate case notes, records, reports and data in accordance with professional and organisational requirements.

Relevant qualifications or experience in indigenous youth work, social work, community services, education or a related field will be highly regarded.
