About Us:

We are not your regular suburban cafe. Grounds of Origin is a unique espresso bar located in Brisbane's Arana Hills, roasting our own beans and building a real reputation with coffee lovers and home baristas across Brisbane. We've been in business since 2014 - this isn't a pop-up or a passion project figuring itself out, it's an established business with a clear direction and the backing to match.

Most of our team has been with us for a couple of years now, which says a lot about what it's actually like to work here day to day. Founded and led by YouTube coffee personality Ryde Jeavons, our profile brings in a excellent crowd but the substance behind it is what keeps this place running well.

So what's the job?

We're looking for an experienced specialty barista and manager who's ready to bring their own ideas to the table - on training, team culture, how the bar runs day to day - and have those ideas genuinely heard and backed, not just carried out on someone else's script. This is a genuine permanent, full-time role averaging 38 hours a week, with Sundays off as standard. We want someone who can run the floor with real independence, while knowing the owners are always around and genuinely open to hearing what you're thinking.

Alongside the leadership side,



you'll still be behind the machine yourself on our Synesso MVP Hydra - this is a working manager role, not a desk job.

Key Responsibilities:

- Head Barista: Making coffee, serving customers and training team
- Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day cafe operations, bringing your own ideas and improvements to the owners
- Team Leadership: Maintain a motivated, high-performing team
- Staff Management: Handle rostering, manage conflicts, and ensure proper staff coverage
- Customer Focus: Ensure every customer interaction exceeds expectations. Advocate for customer service excellence, product knowledge, and staff education.

What We're Looking For:

- Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills
- Proven experience as a barista and in managing cafe operations
- A real passion for coffee and customer service
- Ability to motivate and inspire a team while maintaining a fun and productive work environment
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and stay calm under pressure
