About the Role

ATOM is looking for an organised, commercially minded Expediting Lead to improve the way we manage supplier follow-up, purchase order updates, and supplier exceptions across our national network.

This role is focused on driving supplier accountability, reducing aged purchase order backlog, and ensuring our customer-facing teams have accurate, timely information to manage customer expectations.

You will work closely with suppliers, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, and Branch Operations to resolve supplier issues, improve response quality, and keep purchase orders moving. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys supplier engagement, problem solving, data, and disciplined follow-through.

What You’ll Do:

As the Expediting Lead, you will:

- Lead the daily expediting process for open purchase order lines and supplier updates.
- Engage directly with suppliers to resolve delayed responses, inaccurate ETAs, incomplete purchase order confirmations, freight issues, pricing queries, MOQ issues, and other supplier blockers.
- Hold suppliers accountable for timely, accurate responses and follow-through on commitments.
- Identify repeat supplier non-conformance and support escalation or improvement plans.
- Track supplier performance, aged backlog, exception categories, and resolution outcomes.
- Utilise AI and CRM tools to manage workflow and volumes.
- Work with internal teams to resolve supplier-related blockers impacting customer orders.
- Support future-state expediting processes by managing exceptions requiring manual intervention or supplier clarification.

- Strong relationship-building skills with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Confidence to drive accountability and manage difficult supplier conversations.
- Excellent time management, prioritisation, and follow-through.
- High attention to detail when reviewing supplier responses, ETAs, purchase order information, and exception data.
- Practical problem-solving skills and a bias for action.
- Experience in supply chain, purchasing, procurement, expediting, supplier management, customer service, or distribution operations.
- The ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Supply Chain teams.

You are structured, persistent, and comfortable following through until an issue is resolved. You know how to build productive relationships while still holding people accountable. You are confident with data, strong in Excel, and able to keep multiple priorities moving at once.
