About the role

HARLI + HARPA is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team. This is a full-time position based in our Hawthorn East, Victoria office. As a Financial Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position is central to supporting the financial health and strategic decision-making of the organisation.

Key responsibilities

- Month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, lease accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and supporting analysis for management review
- Support the preparation of half-year and full-year financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS requirements
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure accounting policies are applied consistently across the business
- Support external audit processes by preparing audit workpapers, responding to auditor queries and helping resolve technical accounting matters
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls, including store-related cash and operating expenditure processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting and ad hoc analysis as required by finance leadership
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting, automate reconciliations and improve month-end close efficiency
- Partner with retail operations teams to investigate results, explain key movements and improve the quality of financial insights

What we're looking for

- CA or CPA qualification, currently completing skilled studies, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices relevant to financial reporting
- Five years experience in financial accounting, audit, corporate reporting or a similar role.
- Experience in a listed company, retail, FMCG,



multi-site or high-volume transaction environment will be highly regarded.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with large data setsExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in processing financial information
- Solid understanding of the accounting cycle and balance sheet reconciliation processes
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Reliability and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information
- Experience with financial statement preparation or month-end closing processes is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Australian tax and accounting compliance requirements would be advantageous
