Fitter

Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Key Competencies

- Grade 12 / N2 qualification
- Qualified Fitter with a recognised Red Seal Trade Test.
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Fitter in a maintenance workplace

- Minimum 2 years' experience maintaining crushing and screening plants

- Minimum 2 years' experience in a quarrying, mining, or heavy industrial environment

- Valid Code 08 driver's licence
- Medically fit and able to work in a mining/quarry environment
- HIRA, Lockout/Isolation, and MHSA Compliance Training
- Basic computer literacy for maintenance reporting and documentation (Onkey)
- Sound knowledge of mechanical maintenance, fault finding, preventative maintenance, conveyors, crushers, screens, hydraulic systems, and plant equipment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and maintenance documentation
- Willingness to work standby duties, shutdowns, and after-hours breakdowns when required
- Mechanical maintenance and repair
- Fault finding and troubleshooting
- Preventative and planned maintenance
- Root cause analysis
- Hydraulic and conveyor systems maintenance

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)

- Conduct preventative maintenance and routine equipment inspections
- Diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns on crushers, screens, conveyors, feeders, hoppers, and associated plant equipment
- Perform fitting, fabrication, assembly, and installation activities
- Support plant shutdowns, equipment upgrades, and commissioning projects
- Maintain maintenance records, legal inspections, and statutory documentation
- Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety regulations and company safety standards
- Manage tools, equipment, and housekeeping standards within work areas
- Mentor Artisan Assistants and contribute to team development and continuous improvement initiatives
