About the role

Vans Café, located in Cottesloe, is seeking an experienced and qualified Cook to join our busy kitchen team. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of meals to a consistently high standard in a busy café environment.

Key responsibilities

- Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality and freshness
- Prepare and cook food in accordance with the café's menu and recipes
- Prepare meals efficiently during busy service periods
- Safely use knives, kitchen equipment and cooking appliances
- Prepare, handle and store food safely and correctly
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Season and adjust food during cooking to achieve the required taste and quality
- Prepare meals to meet customers' dietary requirements




- Assist with menu planning and estimate food and ingredient ordering requirements
- Monitor food quality and presentation

About you

- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification OR 3 years of full time relevant experience working as a Cook in a busy café, restaurant or similar commercial kitchen
- Current Food Handlers Certificate
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
