About the role

We are seeking a Full time Specialist Medical Receptionist to join the team at Sunshine Coast Diabetes and Endocrine Specialists in Buderim, Queensland. This is a full-time position that is integral to the smooth operation of our specialist practice. As a Specialist Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient experiences whilst supporting the clinical and administrative functions of our endocrinology and diabetes services.

This position is based in office at our Buderim location.

What you'll be doing

- Greeting patients warmly and professionally, managing patient check-in and check-out processes with efficiency and care
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments, optimising the appointment calendar to ensure smooth clinic operations
- Processing patient registrations, collecting relevant medical history and insurance information accurately
- Answering incoming telephone calls and directing enquiries to appropriate staff members or providing information about services
- Managing patient records and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with privacy legislation and practice policies
- Processing patient payments and invoicing, handling cash and electronic transactions securely
- Liaising with pathology services, imaging providers and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and referrals
- Maintaining a clean, welcoming and organised reception area
- Providing administrative support to clinicians and management as required
- Utilising medical practice management software and other computer systems proficiently

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare administrative role, ideally within a specialist medical practice
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, clinicians and external healthcare providers
- Strong organisational and time management abilities,



with capacity to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency with computer systems and medical practice management software, with a willingness to learn current systems
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy legislation, including the Privacy Act 1988
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment, demonstrating patience and empathy towards patients
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling patient information and financial transactions
- Flexibility and adaptability, with a collaborative approach to working within a small team
- Current knowledge of health insurance and Medicare processes would be advantageous
