SINGAPORE HIGH COMMISSION IN CANBERRA The Singapore High Commission in Canberra (SHC) is looking for a Full Time Research Officer (RO). The role involves media monitoring and analysis, tracking developments in foreign and domestic policy, and researching a range of issues of interest to the SHC. The RO will also be involved in social media management and supporting diplomatic functions for the SHC.
The role is Canberra-based and is part of a two-person team. The SHC is seeking applicants who are able to commit to the role for at least a year, but ideally two years or more.
The remuneration package includes a starting salary of A$65,640 in the first year and other discretionary bonuses. The annual remuneration excluding 12% superannuation could be in excess of A$82,050 in the first year.
Main duties of the RO:
· Conduct research into and prepare reports on topics of interest to the SHC (primarily Australian domestic politics and foreign policy)
· Monitor daily news and social media activity in Australia and produce analyses of issues of interest to the SHC
· Maintain information databases as required by the SHC
· Assist to plan, coordinate, and organise diplomatic and social functions hosted by the SHC
· Assist to curate and develop social media collateral for the SHC (e.g. written content, videos,
infographics)
· Assist to monitor the social media accounts of the SHC
Qualities we are looking for:
· Possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree, preferably in disciplines requiring research and writing skills
· Interest in Australian politics, policy-making, and foreign policy
· Interest in research; prior experience in a research-related position is advantageous
· Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
· Able to objectively analyse and summarise information
· Able to work under pressure, often with competing deadlines
· Able to work in a team
· Able to be independent and self-motivated in completing tasks
· Possess an attention to detail
· Possess a willingness to learn and adapt
· Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Proficient in social media
