About Abu Care Services

Abu Care Services provides compassionate and person-centred support to older Australians and people living with disability.

We are currently looking for a reliable and caring Gardener to join our team on a casual basis and provide gardening and basic outdoor maintenance services to our Aged Care and NDIS participants.

This role is about more than maintaining gardens. Your work will help our clients maintain safe, clean and enjoyable outdoor spaces in their own homes, while supporting their independence and quality of life.

About the Role

As a Gardener with Abu Care Services, you will travel to clients' homes and assist with general gardening and outdoor maintenance tasks according to each client's service requirements.

Your duties may include

- Lawn mowing and edging
- Weeding and general garden maintenance
- Pruning small plants, shrubs and hedges
- Leaf and green waste removal
- Sweeping and tidying outdoor areas
- Watering and basic plant care
- Maintaining secure and accessible outdoor areas
- Identifying and reporting potential hazards or maintenance concerns
- Respecting participants' homes, privacy, preferences and independence
- Communicating professionally and respectfully with participants, families and the Abu Care Services team
- Completing required service records/documentation where applicable

Gardening tools and equipment will be provided by Abu Care Services, so you mainly need to bring a positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to help others.

What We're Looking For

You don't need to be an experienced professional gardener to apply. We are looking for someone who is:

- Reliable, punctual and committed to scheduled services
- Friendly, respectful and comfortable working with older people and people with disability
- Willing to undertake physical outdoor work




- Able to work independently and follow instructions
- Safety-conscious when using gardening tools and equipment
- Respectful of clients' homes, cultures, choices and privacy
- Able to communicate effectively with clients and our coordination team
- Willing to learn and follow Abu Care Services' policies and procedures

Previous gardening, landscaping, maintenance, Aged Care or NDIS experience is an advantage, but not mandatory.

Requirements

Due to the nature of our services, successful applicants will need to meet relevant screening and compliance requirements. Depending on the clients and services allocated, these may include:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Relevant Aged Care worker screening requirements
- National Police Check where applicable
- Valid Australian driver's licence
- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel between participants' homes
- Australian working rights
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of gardening work
