About the role

You will assist with the day-to-day garden care, presentation, and ongoing improvement of the Homestead gardens and estate grounds. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in plants, gardens, trees, turf, irrigation, and the care of high-quality outdoor spaces. The successful applicant will take pride in maintaining beautifully presented gardens and will enjoy hands-on horticultural work in a unique rural estate setting.

Key responsibilities

- General horticultural maintenance including planting, pruning, watering, mulching, fertilising, soil preparation, and seasonal garden care.
- Maintaining garden beds, lawns, trees, hedges, and planted areas to a high standard of presentation.
- Irrigation monitoring and troubleshooting, including leak detection, digging, pipe repairs, and efficient watering practices.
- Weed identification, treatment, and ongoing weed management across garden and landscaped areas.
- Tree planting, establishment care, staking, watering, pruning, and installation of protective cages where required.
- Turf care, mowing, edging, brush-cutting, blowing, and grounds detailing to ensure excellent presentation.
- Supporting sustainability, food-growing, and environmental improvement initiatives.
- Operating and maintaining garden and grounds machinery, including mowers, tractors, brush-cutters, chainsaws, wood-chippers, and attachments.
- Assisting with basic landscaping, garden improvements, and small projects across the Homestead precinct.




- Working independently and within a small team to maintain high-profile garden areas with care, consistency, and attention to detail.

About you

- Experience in horticulture, gardening, landscaping, nursery work, rural property maintenance, or estate grounds care.
- Confident undertaking hands-on garden maintenance, planting, pruning, watering, mulching, and general horticultural tasks.
- Chemically certified or willing to obtain chemical handling certification.
- Observant, practical, and proactive in identifying plant health, irrigation, weed, and presentation issues.
- Detail-oriented, tidy in your work, and committed to maintaining gardens and grounds to a consistently high standard.
- Comfortable with rural life, outdoor work, and the seasonal nature of horticultural maintenance.
- Passionate about gardening, plants, trees, nature, and improving the environment.
- Hold a valid driver's licence.
- Formal horticultural qualifications are preferred but not essential.
