- From $30.42 per hour + allowances and superannuation

About the Role The Direct Support Worker provides person centred support to older people and people with disability accessing Council’s Life Choices – Support Services. The role assists clients to maintain independence, wellbeing and quality of life in their own homes across the Glen Innes Severn and Tenterfield LGAs. Support is delivered in line with Council policies, service standards, and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide practical daily living support including meal preparation, medication assistance, housekeeping, domestic duties, personal care and hygiene, and transport to medical and social appointments.
- Implement individual client routines and care requirements in accordance with Council’s Domestic and Personal Care standards.
- Report changes in client needs or circumstances promptly to the supervisor to support ongoing care planning.
- Apply relevant policies, procedures, standards and guidelines,



seeking guidance from the supervisor when required.
- Maintain professional boundaries with clients, carers and families, ensuring advice or personal suggestions are not provided.
- Uphold Work Health and Safety obligations, including safe work practices, hazard identification and duty of care.
- Ensure confidentiality of client information and records at all times.
- Participate in team meetings, discussions and workshops to support service delivery and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent, high quality support aligned with Council’s service standards.
- Provide coaching and guidance to new or relief staff as required.
- Safely operate a range of household and client support equipment including lifters, wheelchairs, domestic appliances, telephones, smartphones and IT devices.
- Undertake basic clinical tasks such as wound care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or GP.

About You

Essential

- Current minimum Class C (Car) Driver Licence
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record/Police Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and NSW Working With Children Check
- Relevant qualification in Individual Support, Nursing or Community Services (or currently working towards)
- Current First Aid Certificate

Desirable

- Previous experience as a Direct Support Worker or similar role within aged care, disability support or community services.
