Graduate Speech Pathologist | Gold Coast
Start your career somewhere you’ll actually be supported
At Top Therapy, we want new graduate Speech Pathologists to develop into confident, capable clinicians without being overwhelmed by unrealistic caseloads or KPIs. You’ll be backed by regular supervision, practical support and a team you can actually reach when you need help.
Top Therapy is a small but growing, family-run business dedicated to helping children and adults achieve their communication and swallowing goals.
The role
You’ll work with a varied caseload across the Gold Coast, providing functional, person-centred speech pathology supports in clients’ homes, schools, community settings and via telehealth. Depending on your interests, your caseload may include:
- Speech and language
- AAC
- Social communication
- Aphasia and acquired communication disorders
- Progressive neurological conditions
- Dysarthria and motor speech disorders
- Dysphagia and mealtime management
- Capacity building with families, carers and support teams
Your week will include assessment, therapy, report writing, resource development, collaboration with other professionals and working closely with clients and their support networks.
Our graduate support
Graduates need more than someone saying, “message me if you need anything.” You’ll receive structured support including:
- Regular 1:1 clinical supervision
- A structured onboarding and induction period - take your time to learn and build your caseload!
- A gradually increasing caseload
- Dedicated time for learning,
resource development and clinical preparation
- Support with NDIS documentation, report writing and clinical reasoning
- Joint sessions and opportunities to observe experienced clinicians
- Access to internal and external professional development
- Support to develop your own clinical interests and areas of expertise
Flexibility without being left on your own
Community work should give you flexibility, not chaos. You’ll have autonomy to organise your diary around your clients and your life, with a combination of:
- Community visits
- Working from home
- Telehealth
Once your client commitments and required work are completed, we don’t believe in keeping you busy just for the sake of it. We want you to have the flexibility to make the role work around your life, rather than having your life revolve around work.
A realistic caseload
We care about the quality of your clinical work, not how many appointments can be squeezed into a day. Your caseload will build gradually as your confidence and experience develop.
Expectations will be transparent from the beginning and adjusted appropriately during your graduate year.
Advantages
- Branded uniform, laptop, phone and iPad
- $1500 professional development allowance
- Weekly formal supervision
- Clear KPI's
- Travel reimbursement
- Bonus pay when KPI's are exceeded
- Flexible working arrangements
- 4 weeks annual leave
- Birthday leave - take your special day off!
Who we’re looking for
You might be graduating at the end of 2026, graduating in early 2027, or already have some experience and be looking for the right team.
You’ll need
- A recognised Speech Pathology qualification
- Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership
- A current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
- NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Working With Children Check / Blue Card, or willingness to obtain one
- National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys working with people with disability
- Wants to develop strong clinical skills rather than simply meet targets
- Is curious and willing to learn
- Communicates well with clients, families and other professionals
- Is organised and able to manage their own diary
- Is comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask for support
- Values long-term relationships and meaningful outcomes for clients
- Wants to be part of a small team where their ideas and contribution actually matter
You do not need to arrive knowing everything! We’re much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, values and willingness to learn.
