About the Company
We are working exclusively with a global renewable energy technology business that is expanding its Australian engineering team and looking for Grid Engineers and Senior Grid Engineers to join their Melbourne-based team.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of power systems, grid connection and wind turbine technology, with exposure to some of Australia's most significant renewable energy projects.
About The Role
You'll work across the full lifecycle of utility-scale wind projects, collaborating with developers, AEMO, NSPs, consultants and international engineering teams.
Depending on your level, you'll be involved in:
- Power system studies including load flow, stability, fault level and harmonic analysis.
- Grid connection applications, registration and commissioning documentation.
- GPS negotiations and compliance under NER 5.2.
- Power system modelling using PSS/E, PSCAD and/or PowerFactory.
- Wind turbine model validation and control system performance assessment.
- Technical engagement with AEMO, TNSPs, DNSPs, developers and consultants.
- Early-stage connection strategies and feasibility assessments.
- For Senior Engineers, ownership of grid connection scopes, leadership of technical workstreams and mentoring junior engineers.
Experience & Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience in power systems or grid engineering, ideally within renewable energy.
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD and/or PowerFactory.
- Understanding of the Australian NEM, AEMO connection process, GPS and NER 5.2.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- For the Senior role, proven experience independently delivering grid connection studies and technical workstreams.
