HEAD COACH — BFT MASCOT

BFT Mascot | Full-time | $80,000 base + performance bonuses | OTE ~$100k

This is more than a coaching job.

At BFT Mascot, our mission is to make a genuine difference in people’s lives. We’re building more than somewhere people come to train.

We want BFT Mascot to feel like a second home - a place where people feel comfortable walking through the doors, supported when life gets hard, celebrated when they win, and part of a community that genuinely cares about them.

For us, fitness is part of a bigger picture: strength, mindset, wellbeing and community.

And I’m looking for a Head Coach who wants to build that with me.

Someone who loves coaching, knows their craft and wants to lead.

Someone who understands this isn't about our egos. It's about our members.

The opportunity

As Head Coach, you'll own the coaching experience at BFT Mascot. You'll lead from the floor, develop our coaching team and take the programming provided by BFT HQ and make sure its intent is delivered exceptionally well in our studio.

But your job doesn't stop when the session finishes.

You'll help our trial members take the next step into membership. You'll know our members, notice when someone starts disappearing, and help keep people engaged with their training.

In simple terms, you'll own three big things:

1. Coaching quality

Exceptional sessions. Exceptional coaches. BFT programming delivered the way it is intended.

2. Trial-to-member rollovers

Help people experience what BFT Mascot can do for them and confidently take the next step into membership.

3. Member retention

Build relationships, notice when people are drifting and work with the team to keep our community training, progressing and connected.

What great coaching looks like here

We always, always, always lead with positivity. That doesn't mean ignoring poor technique or lowering our standards.

It means we coach rather than criticise.

We're patient.

We meet people where they are.

We look for progress.

And we celebrate wins - including the small ones.

Sometimes adding weight to the bar is a win.

Sometimes simply walking through the door when you've had a terrible week is the win.

A excellent Head Coach understands the difference.

You need to know your craft

This isn't a role for someone who's brand new to strength training. You understand the human body and movement.

You know how to coach strength safely and effectively. You can look beyond exercises and understand how to help a member actually get results.

You'll take ownership of BFT's programming as it comes from HQ - understanding the intent, preparing the coaching team and ensuring it's executed consistently across the studio.

You don't need to reinvent the program.

You need to master it and lead it.

You'll lead our coaches too

Your standard becomes our standard. You'll coach alongside the team, observe sessions, give feedback and help our coaches continually improve.

We're looking for someone who can be confident without being arrogant.

Someone who can teach without needing to prove they're the smartest person in the room.

Someone willing to leave their ego at the door.

Because this is about the members, not us.

You'll need to be organised

Being a brilliant coach isn't enough for this role. You'll need to manage your day, plan ahead and follow through.

You'll be comfortable using our CRM, spreadsheets, calendars and task lists.

You'll help organise the coaching team and proactively manage members who need attention.

You show up prepared.

You show up on time.

And you don't need someone constantly chasing you to get things done.

How we'll measure success

We're going to be clear about what winning looks like. Trial-to-member rollovers: Target of 4 successful rollovers per week.

Retention: Monthly member churn below 5%.

Coaching: Consistent, high-quality delivery of BFT programming across the coaching team.

Member experience: A positive, welcoming studio where people feel known, supported and excited to train.

What you'll earn

$80,000 base salary

Plus

$69 for every successful trial-to-member rollover.

At our target of four per week, that's approximately $14,000+ additional earning potential per year.

Plus

$200 monthly retention bonus when member churn remains below 5%.

Hit those targets consistently and total earnings are approximately $97,000 per year.

But I want the opportunity here to be about more than money.

What I'll put behind you

I want someone who is invested in BFT Mascot - and I'll invest in you in return. I'll work alongside you. I'm not an owner who expects the team to do something I'm unwilling to do myself.

We'll build an achievement roadmap together - where you want to develop professionally and personally, and what we can do to help you get there.

I'll invest in your ongoing education and development.

I'll support your mental wellbeing.

I'll celebrate your wins.

And when the studio wins, the team should feel that win too.

As we grow, I want the people who helped build this place to grow with it.

We're building something together.

What we're looking for

You'll need:

- Certificate IV in Fitness or equivalent
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Australian working rights
- At least 12 months of strength-training coaching experience
- Strong technical coaching and cueing skills
- Confidence working with group-training members of different abilities
- Good organisation and basic confidence using CRMs, spreadsheets and calendars
- The ability and desire to lead and develop other coaches

Previous leadership experience is valuable, but we're also interested in an exceptional coach who's genuinely ready to step up and lead. Most importantly, you need to care.

About fitness.

About wellbeing.

About your team.

And especially about the people who trust us with their training.

The practical stuff

This is a full-time, 38-hour-per-week role. BFT Mascot operates between 5:00am and 8:30pm, and your roster will include a combination of straight and split shifts across six days, including early mornings and evenings.

We're being upfront about that because this is a leadership role in a fitness studio. We need someone who wants to be present when our community is training.

Sound like you?

Don't send me a generic cover letter telling me you're passionate about fitness. Tell me something real.

Tell me why you coach.

Tell me about a member you've made a difference to.

Tell me about a time you helped another coach get better.

And tell me why you're ready to take ownership of a coaching team and help build a community - not just coach another class.

Send your CV along with a few paragraphs answering those questions.
