Join the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) (RFDS) as a Payroll Advisor and be part of a team driven by purpose. The Payroll Advisor will support end-to-end payroll processing and activities across the employee lifecycle. The role will also monitor and respond to enquiries through the payroll inbox, prepare payroll reports, maintain accurate records, and apply an understanding of enterprise agreements and awards to payroll activities.
This is a permanent part-time role at 0.78 FTE, working an average of 30 hours per week across the fortnight. The preferred roster is structured around payroll processing requirements, typically comprising of 32 hours in the pay week and 28 hours in the non-pay week, with some flexibility available for the rostered day off after pay day. You will also enjoy hybrid working arrangements with a mixture of days in the office, an RDO and one day working from home.
Your role as a RFDS Payroll Advisor

- Process payroll accurately and maintain employee records in the HRIS
- Respond to payroll queries and provide timely support
- Ensure payroll compliance with legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and company policies
- Produce payroll reports and people metrics
- Conduct payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
- Maintain payroll procedures, training materials, and documentation
Who we are looking for:
We’re seeking someone with great payroll fundamentals, a commitment to accuracy,
good customer service and the ability to work effectively as part of a trusted and high-performing payroll team. With a positive, proactive approach, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Understanding and experience in payroll processes such as terminations, new starters and employment lifecycle actions i.e. – contract variations
- Working knowledge of enterprise agreements, awards and relevant legislation
- Intermediate Excel skills and confidence developing and working with payroll reports
- Experience using a HRIS (i.e. – Dayforce)
- Reliability, attention to detail and high degree of time management skills in handling payroll responsibilities
- A collaborative approach and comfort working in a diverse and unique payroll environment
