About us The Productivity Commission (PC) is the Australian Government's independent research and advisory body on a range of economic, social and environmental issues affecting the welfare of Australians.
About the Register
This register is open for applicants to express general interest in employment opportunities with the PC, including existing Australian Public Service (APS) employees seeking to transfer to the PC. This register enables the PC to access appropriately skilled and experienced individuals at short notice, should future non-ongoing vacancies arise at the APS Level 3 – Executive Level 2 classification.
Positions that become available may be based in either our Melbourne or Canberra offices. Depending on the business needs of the PC, we may use the register to fill full-time, part time or casual positions.
In the application form, you will be required to select areas of interest and advise the skillsets most closely aligned with your experience. Applicants may be contacted and assessed for their suitability either through a formal or informal selection process as employment opportunities arise.
We welcome expressions of interest from professionals who can bring experience and expertise in a range of areas, such as:
- Economics
- Social sciences
- Policy Analysis and Advice
- Modelling and Data Analysis
- Qualitative and quantitative research
- Project and Change management
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures,
histories, and perspectives
- Executive, Administrative and Project Support
- Communications and Stakeholder Engagement
- Finance and Procurement
- Human Resources
- Digital Technology and Cybersecurity
- Information Management
- Office services
- Governance and Risk Management
- Security
Please note:
- There is no guarantee that an offer of employment will be made while an application remains on the register. You will only be contacted if a vacancy arises that may suit your attributes, skills, and experience.
- This register is intended to fill positions on a temporary basis, either through non-ongoing specified term engagement or section 26 temporary transfer at level. However, if an ongoing opportunity becomes available, current ongoing APS employees may be considered for permanent movement at level.
- Your application will be considered until 30 June 2027. After this date you will need to reapply.
To be eligible for employment with the Productivity Commission, applicants must:
- hold an Australian Citizenship.
- be willing to undergo a security and character clearance (which may include, but not limited to, completing an identity verification check, police check, and obtaining/maintaining an Australian Government security vetting clearance if required by the role).
- provide evidence of mandatory qualifications (if applicable).
