Narrative Talent is a founder-led specialist recruitment partner for PR and communications agencies across Australia and New Zealand, using trusted relationships, targeted search and live market intelligence to help clients hire well and talent make informed career decisions.
About Our Client
Our client is a global indie marketing communications agency with deep roots in B2B tech, known for helping ambitious businesses turn complex ideas into clear, relevant and compelling stories. Its work brings together earned media, content, social, creative and integrated communications, supported by expertise and collaboration across an established international network.
In Sydney, the agency combines global opportunity with the autonomy and influence of a close-knit local team. The culture is flat, entrepreneurial and collaborative, giving people the trust to contribute ideas, build direct relationships and take meaningful ownership from early in their careers.
While tech remains an important part of its heritage, the agency has continued to broaden its client portfolio and capabilities. For someone building their career, this creates the opportunity to develop robust PR foundations while gaining wider exposure across content, social, creative and integrated campaigns.
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an Account Exec with strong writing, good media instincts and the confidence to take initiative.
You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of global and high-growth tech businesses, including cybersecurity, enterprise software, data, cloud and digital infrastructure, helping translate complex subject matter into stories that are timely, accessible and interesting.
This is not a junior role where you’ll remain behind the scenes. You’ll contribute in client meetings, pitch journalists directly, build your own media relationships and take responsibility for delivering work across several accounts.
You’ll also be encouraged to take ownership of an area that interests you, such as AI, marketing, culture or client service, creating opportunities to work with senior leaders and contribute to the wider agency.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing media angles, pitches and content
- Building relationships with journalists, analysts and industry commentators
- Delivering campaigns across earned media, content, social, digital and integrated communications.
- Contributing confidently in client meetings and account WIPs
- Drafting media materials, thought leadership, briefings and social content
- Monitoring the news agenda and identifying relevant opportunities for clients
- Coordinating interviews, media briefings and campaign activity
- Supporting the day-to-day delivery of client accounts
- Collaborating with social, content, creative and media specialists
- Contributing research and ideas to new-business opportunities
- Tracking results and helping communicate campaign performance
Who You Are:
- Relevant experience of working in a B2B, corporate, consumer or digital communications environment
- Currently operating around Account Coordinator or Account Executive level
- A strong writer who can make unfamiliar or complex subjects engaging
- Developing experience in media pitching and relationship building
- Confident communicating with clients and contributing in meetings
- Curious about business, technology, current affairs and the wider news agenda
- Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Keen to take ownership rather than wait to be closely directed
- Interested in developing beyond traditional media relations
- Collaborative, thoughtful and comfortable working in a low-ego environment
Previous technology experience would be valuable, but it is not the only consideration. Curiosity, strong communication skills and the ability to find the human story within complex subject matter will be equally important.
What You’ll Love
- Global agency exposure within a close-knit Sydney team
- Meaningful client and media responsibility from the outset
- A flat, entrepreneurial culture where your ideas are heard
- Structured training and direct access to senior leaders
- Development across PR, content, social, creative and integrated communications
- The opportunity to take ownership of a wider agency initiative
- Building valuable expertise without being confined to one channel or specialisation
