Abel Ecology is a specialist company providing an innovative, high quality and professional ecological consulting service to architects, homeowners, planners, surveyors, lawyers and natural resource and land managers. We are celebrating 35 years in business, during which time extensive expertise has been gained with regard to Environmental Impact Assessments. Our expertise includes Flora and Fauna Reports, Management of Threatened Species, Review of Environmental Factors, Arboriculture (Tree) Reports, Vegetation Management Plans, and as Expert Witnesses in the Land and Environment Court. Our qualified practice is based in Springwood with commercial, private and government clients across NSW, with much of our business coming by personal recommendations from satisfied clients. The Opportunity

This is an exciting role for someone who thrives in a high paced environment, has strong initiative, a steady eye for detail and would enjoy supporting a team of passionate environmental professionals. Working within our accounts and admin teams, you will assist in managing day-to-day financial and administrative operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional support both internally and to clients.

- Full-time or part-time (4-5 days/30-38 hrs per week)
- Level 5 Clerk award rates, or by negotiation
- Open to Australian citizens and permanent residents

Core duties:

- Various bookkeeping, administrative and office tasks including:
- Prepare and issue invoices and statements, follow up outstanding payments
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and budgeting
- Maintain company insurances and licensing, correspondence and documentation
- Maintain purchase records and equipment lists
- Support payroll processing, HR administration and financial record management,



compliant with relevant regulations
- Maintain company records, databases, and filing systems, including secure document management and archiving
- Manage contracts, proposals, project files and documentation
- Proofread and deliver scientific and legal reports for submission to determining bodies
- Monitor and contribute job progress in line with tight deadlines, including project budgets, assisting with travel arrangements and financial tracking
- Assist with general IT support for staff on and off site
- Maintain and progress health, safety, and quality management systems
- Daily administration and office upkeep.

You have a positive attitude, with mature, mindful communication skills, and adaptability for a small team context. You are an avid learner with a willingness to contribute to ongoing refinement of processes, supporting continuous efficiency and growth for staff and the business. Essential capabilities & experience:

- Finance, bookkeeping, business administration, or a similar role
- Strong proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks)
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Exceptional organisational and time management abilities
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,



including precise use of English vocabulary and grammar
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Absolute confidentiality. You will not be able to discuss your work outside the office. Our reports are legal documents, which are commercially confidential
- Ability to work autonomously and seek assistance when required.

Desirable capabilities & experience:

- Degree or certification in Accounting, Business Administration or related fields
- Understanding of project-based accounting and budgeting
- Project management/coordination
- Knowledge/practice of small business legislation
- Management of WH&S; procedures, records, audits
- Current first aid certificate
- Basic IT administration, networking and system management
- Current NSW driver’s licence
- Manual driving experience
- Experience in a consulting, professional services, or environmental organisation
- Interest in environmental and ecological conservation.
