About the role
As Assistant Manager, you will support the Service Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the service, ensuring high-quality education and care for children. You will mentor and support educators, strengthen team capability, drive continuous improvement, and help create inclusive and engaging learning environments. This is a permanent part-time position based at our Midway Point Education and Care Service.
As part of the role, you will:
- Contribute to service-based decisions relating to safety, compliance and continuous quality improvement.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with children, families and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively with educators and leaders to strengthen team capability and deliver inclusive programs.
- Assist with waitlists, enrolments and transitions, ensuring vacancies are filled in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Support the service in meeting National Quality Standards,
including Assessment and Rating processes and Regulatory Authority visits.
- Ensure educational programs are engaging, inclusive and responsive to the needs and interests of children.
- Support staff to effectively manage their professional responsibilities.
- Assist with roster implementation to support quality service delivery, staff equity and operational sustainability.
About you You are a collaborative and values-driven leader who is passionate about quality early childhood education and care.
You will bring:
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education and Care (ACECQA approved).
- Strong knowledge of the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standards (NQS) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
- Experience leading, mentoring or coaching educators and teams within an early childhood education and care setting.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to child safety, inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Ability to build robust partnerships with children, families and colleagues.
- A current Tasmanian Registration for Working with Vulnerable People (child-related activity – childcare services)
