Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) – Intensive Care Unit

About the Role

We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Mulgrave Private Hospital.

In this valued leadership role, the ANUM works closely with the Nurse Unit Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of the ICU and to promote safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. The role offers the opportunity to provide clinical leadership, mentor and support staff, contribute to workforce coordination, and take an active part in quality improvement initiatives.

About Mulgrave Private Hospital

We are an acute surgical and medical hospital with 249 beds, conveniently located in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne easily accessible via the Monash Freeway and East Link.

Our services include a 24 hour Emergency Department, 10 bed ICU, 17 bed Coronary care unit, 12 Theatres including a Hybrid and Cardiac Cath Laboratory,

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a coronary care nurse to join our dynamic team and expand their experience and development as a Nurse Unit Manager.

Key Responsibilities





· Support the safe and effective clinical and operational management of the ICU.

· Provide approachable leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff.

· Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to critically ill patients and their families.

· Encourage professional growth, learning, and education within the team.

· Assist with rostering, patient flow, and resource management to support smooth unit operations.

· Contribute to quality improvement and accreditation activities.

· Build positive multidisciplinary relationships that support excellent patient outcomes.

Essential Criteria

· Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.

· Postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Nursing.

· Recent ICU experience in an acute hospital setting.

· Demonstrated leadership experience or a strong interest in developing leadership capability.

· Previous experience working as an ANUM, Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Shift Coordinator, or in a similar senior clinical leadership role is highly desirable.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to care.

· A strong commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.

· Ability to work effectively and respectfully within a multidisciplinary team.

· Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and night duty.
